Hackathon Themes and Prizes

Equipment

The participants are supposed to bring their own  hardware (i.e. laptop, PCs, mobile devices, extension cords, etc.)

 

Support during the Hackaton

1.     The developer platform  Musixmatch (https://developer.musixmatch.com/) and its APIs will be available for the interested participants. Personnel from Musixmatch will be available on site or remotely to assist the participants in using the platform.

2.     The platform  BaasBox http://www.BaasBox.com/ for backend development will be available for the interested participants. Personnel from BaasBox will be available on site or remotely to assist the participants in using the platform. In addition pre-configured virtual machines  with BaasBox backend will be available.

3.     Tutors and Mentors will be available in situ during the hackaton to assist all the participants.

 

Themes of the hackaton are:

THEME 1:   Body talking with your phone: creative use of sensors and gestures (touch/in-air/motion) in smart objects (not only smartphones!) in apps for work, fun, collaboration and/or competition. Gestures should represent a mapping of a human action (physical, metaphoric, symbolic).

THEME 2: 2014: digital freedom in untrustworthy world 30 years after “1984″ (G. Orwell)

THEME 3: My life off-line: innovative applications and services in a world with high speed but unreliable mobile network access

It will be possible to select a single theme or a combination of them. The choice made need to be stated during the final presentation on Sunday.

 

Prizes:

  • 2nd CLASSIFIED TEAM: 250 euro vouchers  to be used on Amazon.it
  • 3rd CLASSIFIED TEAM: 3 months TAG Resident (value of  750€+vat)  Talent Garden Torino

Note: prize assignation may vary, and other prizes may be made available.

Special Prizes

Raspberry Pi (one per team).  BaasBox will offer a Raspberry Pi to each team will use  the  BaasBox  platform for the development.
