Torino is known as an industrial city, but in the last decade it has made significant moves to foster innovation and technology throughout the city. There are many manufacturing companies located in Torino, including Kappa, Ferrero, Martini & Rossi and Lavazza, but with organisations such as Open Innovation Centre Turin championing start up, research and data-led businesses, the city is becoming an innovation hub.
History, architecture and the Arts are woven throughout the city. With less fanfare than the better-known Italian cities, Torino has a huge number of impressive palazzos, piazzas, museums and galleries. Here you can sample great Italian style and Arts, without the crowds!
As the capital of the Piedmont region, Torino has a legacy of slow food, of world class produce (including the Nutella hazelnuts), and of dishes inspired by the traditions of the Alps. All washed down with superior coffee, excellent wines such as Barolo and Barbaresco, and the trendy local soft drink Mole Cola. Buon appetito!
The OGR – Officine Grande Riparazioni – brings together old and new, creation and refurbishment, industrial and technological, artistic and scientific, in one space, to be enjoyed by all. The venue was finally re-opened mid 2017, following a one hundred million euro investment by the CRT Foundation, and we are extremely pleased to be bringing droidcon to this special and very unique complex.
The Officine Nord are an open multifunctional exhibition space which retain traces of the building’s past – including graffiti on some of the walls – but also incorporate the best AV tools & technologies. The intention, the modus operandi and the ambiance of the OGR are a perfect match for droidcon in the year of ‘Android for business’, and sets the pace for a highly valuable droidcon edition.
