The crown is metaphorical but the delights are real. Right in the centre, in Piazza Castello, there are the majestic <\/span><b>Palazzo Reale <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; which, with the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Savoy Gallery<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Royal Armoury<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Royal Library <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Archaeological<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Museum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, form the \u201cRoyal Hub\u201d \u2013 <\/span><b>Palazzo Madama<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Palazzo Carignano<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along the River Po is <\/span><b>Valentino Castle<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, built by Christine of France in the French style and now housing the Faculty of Architecture of<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Torino Polytechnic. Just a short way from the centre, the hill embraces <\/span><b>Villa della Regina<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, surrounded by Italianate gardens with pavilions, fountains and agricultural areas. The \u201ccrown\u201d is completed by a wonderful collection of castles and residences in the surrounding areas. The incredible <\/span><b>Royal Palace of Venaria <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">now hosts major events, exhibitions and concerts in its magnificent interiors and spectacular gardens. A favourite spot of the Savoy family for sumptuous feasts and solemn weddings was the <\/span><b>Stupinigi Hunting Lodge<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, modeled on the style of contemporarily built Central European residences.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h1><b>WHAT TO SEE | <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MAIN PLACES OF WORSHIP<\/span><\/h1>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 1578, the <\/span><b>Duomo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the only example of Renaissance art in the city \u2013 has held the <\/span><b>Holy Shroud<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Cloth claimed to have wrapped the body of Christ. Devotees can visit the corresponding Museum in the crypt of the <\/span><b>Church of the Santissimo Sudario<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Not only are Torino&#8217;s churches places of worship, they are also fine examples of architecture and art, mainly in baroque style: the church of <\/span><b>San Lorenzo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the first work commissioned of Guarino Guarini by the Court of Savoy, the twin churches of <\/span><b>Santa Cristina<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>San Carlo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Piazza<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the same name, the impressive church of <\/span><b>San Filippo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Juvarra and the<\/span><b> Basilica della Consolata<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 much loved by Torino&#8217;s citizens \u2013 are well worth a visit not just by churchgoers. The area traditionally devoted to shopping is between\u00a0<\/span><b>Via Roma<\/b><span>, heart and symbol of the city, and the pedestrian zones of\u00a0<\/span><b>Via Carlo<\/b><span>\u00a0<\/span><b>Alberto<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span>and\u00a0<\/span><b>Via Lagrange<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span>where the shop windows of all the big names in fashion and jewellery glitteringly shine.\u00a0<\/span><b>Via Garibaldi<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span>is younger and trendier,\u00a0<\/span><b>Via Po<\/b><span>\u00a0 is more \u201cintellectual\u201d with the bookshops and stores selling new and used records. Torino has many markets. The top one is at\u00a0<\/span><b>Porta Palazzo<\/b><span>, the town\u2019s true multiethnic heart in terms both of people and of the goods on display. Nearby there is also Bal\u00f4n, the historical flea-market.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h1><b>WHAT TO DO | <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NIGHTLIFE<\/span><\/b><\/h1>\n<div>\n<p><span>When the sunset warms the city and the lights flicker on it\u2019s the moment for organising the evening: a cheerful aperitif in one of the many bars in the centre, a delicious dinner of traditional or ethnic foods\u2026 and then the Torino night awaits!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Piazza Vittorio Veneto<\/b><span>, on the River Po,\u00a0<\/span><b>Borgo Dora<\/b><span>\u00a0and the\u00a0<\/span><b>Roman Quarter<\/b><span>\u00a0\u2013 the city\u2019s real centre \u2013 are home to many trendy spots: here art, food and design make the atmosphere even more sparkling, here you can listen to classical music, pop and jazz all strictly live, you can chat, watch artistic performances, dance until dawn. Also\u00a0<\/span><b>San Salvario<\/b><span>\u00a0has an irresistible allure, the multiethnic district (between Porta Nuova station and Valentino Park), the focus of a major urban renewal
